Favorite referencing style
My favorite referencing style is Chicago because it works well for writing history and theology.
Why I became an editor
As a teenager I took a correspondence course in writing. In college I majored in English, wrote for the school newspaper, and joined a writers club. I earned three advanced degrees, including a doctorate, from accredited institutions.
Later in life, I wrote a newspaper column and self-published over a dozen books. I also edited articles and books for other writers.
I enjoyed helping others with their writing projects so I got additional training in proofreading and editing, including a course from Proofreading Academy.
Proofreading fits both my background and personality. I enjoy helping others achieve success through their writing.
Background and experience
I edited the school literary magazine in college, wrote a newspaper column for five years on local history, served as editor of a writing club newsletter, and edited and proofread over a dozen books.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love helping other writers succeed, and proofreading gives me that opportunity. I especially enjoy proofreading and editing writings on history, Christian ministry, self-publishing, and self-improvement. My three degrees have given me experience in writing academic papers, including my own dissertation for a doctorate.
Favorite book:
Why Live the Christian Life? by T B Matson
Hobbies:
Photography – I especially like taking pictures of birds and other living creatures. Believe it or not, I also love to read and study history for the fun of it.
Editing tips:
I like to get familiar with a document by reading through it a couple of times before I focus on proofreading it. I want to understand the author's intended message so I can help present it clearly and accurately.
