Favorite referencing style
I find IEEE referencing to be clean and simple. It allows the reader to stay focused on the text.
Why I became an editor
I have accumulated years of experience in writing in different styles: from legal briefs to newspaper blurbs to short stories about cats who use Uber. The task I always enjoyed the most was proofreading my work. I am excited I can now help other writers present a polished composition.
Background and experience
I am new to professional proofreading and editing. However, over the course of my life, I have had to proofread and edit my own work. I have aided in grant writing, helped compile a teacher's edition textbook, written blurbs for a newspaper, compiled legal briefs and case summaries, created content for a website, and self-published a book. It was the self-publishing of my book that exposed me to the world that I am now about to enter. I am continuing my education in this field so I may better serve my clients.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love proofreading because to me it is a game that requires me to find and correct all the errors in order to win.
Favorite book:
The Cat Who... book series by Lilian Jackson Braun. Excellent vocabulary words for young readers!
Hobbies:
When I am not proofreading, I am exercising, writing, or trying to entertain my cats.
Editing tips:
I find it useful to proofread on the computer first and then to print a hard copy to review.
