APA is my favorite referencing style because it seems more straightforward and logical than other referencing styles.
For as long as I can remember, I've always had a kind of natural radar for catching grammar and spelling mistakes. But I only began to proofread and edit in earnest when I began working as an ESL/EFL teacher in Canada and Japan. It has always been an enjoyable part of the job for me because it’s like a quiz I get to play at work! It's a win-win for me and my students.
In my career as an ESL/EFL teacher, I have focused on teaching Business English and Academic English to advanced students in Canada and Japan. I have extensive experience proofreading and editing homework assignments, students' emails, blueprints, and business documents. I also taught seminars, which involved editing PowerPoint slides and students' pre-study assignments. My goal is always to raise the credibility of information through good writing.
I enjoy proofreading because while helping authors to achieve perfectly formed sentences and documents, I get to test my proofreading skills and increase my knowledge of the English language. While most of my experience is in business, I have proofread many academic papers as well. From these papers and my own academic studies, I am well acquainted with the Harvard, APA, and MLA referencing styles.
